A Wonderful Autumnal wedding at The Bluecoat, Liverpool

I was so excited to capture Ailish and Edward’s wedding in October. They are a talented, creative couple living in Glasgow but were married in Liverpool at The Bluecoat and had sprinkled a lot of personal touches throughout the day. It was my first time as a Bluecoat wedding photographer, and it was a wonderful city centre setting for a DIY wedding.

I began before the ceremony in the Sandon Room at The Bluecoat, where Ailish’s stepdad was arranging the flowers and her friends were rehearsing their parts for the string trio. Edward and his brothers arrived shortly after to set up the room, which included a pyramid focal point which talented prop maker and sculptor Edward built along with a few other decorations throughout the day.

Ailish arrived with her bridesmaids in a vintage VW Camper Van and was greeted lovingly by her four-legged friend, who was delighted to see her. Ailish then walked down the aisle with Edward, who met her at the door towards the back of the Sandon Room.

Following the ceremony and confetti line, we captured the group shots in the courtyard behind, thanks to Emma for helping organise people into the photos! Then we made our way in the Camper van towards the Liverpool Philharmonic, where musician Ailish wanted to capture a few pictures of her and Edward. We then made our way along Hope Street towards Blackburne House, where the wedding reception and party took place. This was an excellent opportunity to grab some lovely candid photos of the happy couple walking together.

It was now time for the reception, where more guests arrived to meet and greet the newlyweds before everyone moved to the large Eleanor Rathbone Hall for the meal and speeches. The team at Blackburne House then cleared the space for the first dance, followed by a ceilidh, which was a lot of fun. Then everybody went downstairs to The Bistro bar for late-night dancing and singing, where Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush was a big standout singalong tune!

Here are a few photos from Ailish and Edward’s day.
