Tipis at Riley Green Wedding Photographer | Julia + Joe

From the moment we first chatted, I could sense how excited Julia and Joe were about their big day, and it rubbed off immediately. Their wedding at The Tipis at Riley Green was full of personal touches they’d made themselves, so much time and love had gone into the day, including 1,000 paper cranes, hand-painted illustrations that Julia had created and a surprise dress change, with Julia wearing her mum’s kimono, which her mum fitted for her. Everyone, including me, was completely swept up in the joy of their day.

Morning Prep – Ribble Valley Holiday Homes

Both of them stayed at the stunning Ribble Valley Holiday Homes, which is ideal if you’re getting married at the Tipis and want families and friends nearby. Julia was getting ready at Somerwood with her bridesmaids and closest family — a modern, spacious cottage with plenty of natural light. Her mum was on hair duty while her dad and uncle sorted ribbons on the Jag outside.

Joe and his six groomsmen were a few minutes down the road at Crumbleholme Cottage. When I arrived, they were deep in tie-related chaos and last-minute getting-ready. If you’re planning a wedding in this area, the holiday homes are genuinely handy for keeping everyone close without being on top of each other, and they’re the perfect place to chill the night before and day after the wedding if you want to make a weekend of it.

Ceremony + Reception at The Tipis at Riley Green

The plan was for an outdoor ceremony, but the Lancashire weather did its thing, and everything moved indoors a couple of hours before. It actually worked out perfectly with vows under the disco ball and cranes, with Ralph the dog delivering the rings before lying down in the aisle like he owned the place.

After the ceremony, everyone headed outside for a colourful confetti walk along the woodchip path, before a bit more rain pushed guests under cover once again for the early part of the reception. Guests chatted and ate ice cream while Julia and Joe quietly changed into their kimonos. They made their entrance for the wedding meal, surprising guests in their new attire, as they quickly cut the cake and lit a candle for loved ones before sitting down for food and speeches.

Once the rain cleared, guests spilt out onto the lawn and the decking areas, and the temporary tattoo and sticker station also became very popular as the day went on. Julia and Joe later changed back into their original outfits for the evening and kicked things off on the dancefloor and the Tipi was bouncing.

If you want a fun, countryside wedding that allows you to be yourself and have the day you really want, this place is perfect. It’s tucked between Preston and Blackburn and is easy to reach from the M6, but it feels miles away from everything. The space works in all weather, gives you loads of freedom, and is ideal for couples who want something laid-back with room to add their own touches. If you’re planning a wedding here and want someone to capture all the little moments, the laughs, the tears and the dancing, without fussing or directing you, I’d love to help. I focus on documentary-style photography, letting your day unfold naturally while making sure you have memories that feel like you.

We have just been through all the photos wow... They are BEAUTIFUL! There are so many favourites, we are in love with them. Some of the pictures actually brought a little tear to my eye. A photo can say a lot of things.

We’d love to just express once again how unbelievably grateful we are for you, and how glad we are to have chosen you to take our photos. We just love your style so much, and it was a pleasure to have you there with us during the whole day.
