Crosby Wedding Photographer | Ruth + Will

One of the things I love about weddings is when couples fully lean into who they are, whether that’s a slow morning with a brew or a 5K on the beach with your mates, which is exactly what Ruth did. Ruth and Will were married at St Luke’s Church in Crosby before heading back to Ruth’s family home for a sunny garden party overlooking the beach. It was also one of the hottest days of the year, so guests spent a good chunk of it trying to stay cool with whatever they could find.

Crosby Beach Parkrun On Your Wedding Day

While most couples ease into their wedding morning, Ruth decided she’d rather start the day with a Parkrun alongside friends and her twin brother. The route passes the house every Saturday, so it felt completely natural for them, and as a keen runner, I was genuinely excited to photograph it. It set such a fun, personal and upbeat tone for everything that followed.

Bridal Prep at Home

After the run, Ruth headed back home to get ready with her close family and bridal party. The house was buzzing with activity, with people getting themselves ready while others sorted bits in the garden. Getting ready in the home you grew up in always adds something special, especially when those familiar childhood surroundings sit alongside the reality of the day ahead.

Ceremony at St Luke’s Church

The ceremony at St Luke’s felt incredibly personal, with thoughtful readings and a brilliant choir composed of family and friends. Once the confetti had settled outside, everyone grabbed a quick cuppa or coffee and a biscuit or a slice of cake before jumping on the bus back to the house for the epic garden celebration.

A Fun Back Garden Party Overlooking The Beach

Back at the house, guests arrived to sunshine, music, drinks and brilliant views of Crosby Beach. Ruth and Will made their entrance from the balcony, which was a great moment to capture.

As the heat climbed, the marquee sides had to come off, and Will and his groomsmen jumped in to help. That little burst of chaos ended up creating one of my favourite photos of the year, with five lads wrestling marquee panels while Will is the only one visible, looking genuinely relieved to feel some fresh air.

Speeches were spaced between courses and were the perfect mix of funny, personal and emotional. After food, people spread out into the garden with cocktails, tried their hand at the lawn games and soaked in the hazy late-August light drifting across the water.

Ruth and Will slipped away for a quiet walk to the beach, so we made the most of the moment with some relaxed portraits. Nothing overly posed — just the two of them enjoying a few quiet moments in the early evening before heading back for the party.

They cut a cheese tower instead of a traditional cake as the sun was setting, which perfectly suited the whole vibe of the day. Their first dance followed, and from that point onwards, the dancefloor never really emptied.
